Embedded System

PSP Security Co Ltd, a developer of biometric security and intelligent video technology, demonstrated its AccuFACE embedded facial recognition system at its product launch in Hong Kong, held in April. The product targets the thriving biometric security (face recognition) and time and attendance markets, and is primarily intended for use in access control, user authentication, and time and attendance applications.
AccuFACE can also be used for video surveillance, or can serve as "intelligent" video for applications such as object tracking, object counting and license plate recognition. For facial recognition, verification can be completed in a second or less for anyone standing within a 45cm to 70cm range.

Embedded Solution with IR Technology

Claimed to be the world's first embedded solution for facial recognition, AccuFACE offers some distinctive features.

The embedded nature of the system eliminates the need for an external computer. Unlike conventional offerings that employ an external computer/controller to perform recognition and data storage, AccuFACE stores all data internally, minimizing the installation cost, energy consumption and total cost of ownership (TCO). It also prevents system tampering.

The device works well even in poor lighting conditions, and can identify users in dim light or even in complete darkness. It incorporates infrared (IR)-based facial recognition technology and proprietary video capturing techniques to effectively reduce interference originating from the object's background that may affect recognition accuracy. In contrast, competitive solutions employ color CCD recognition and IR image technologies, which are more susceptible to changes under ambient lighting.

The low power consumption and small form factor of the facial recognition system provide additional benefits for users.

The power-saving device operates at 12W and uses only 3.5W in sleep mode, making it suitable for 24/7 operation as well as for mobile deployments. With dimensions of 175 x 90 x 80mm, the device can be deployed as a standalone product or used in a network system.

Operating Modes

AccuFACE consists of a terminal and content management software (CMS), and has two modes of operation: 1:1 verification and one-to-many identification. The CMS software, which allows the user to control and monitor multiple AccuFACE systems, can be installed within an Ethernet/WAN network. The product supports up to three factor authentication in 1:1 verification, which allows the use of RFID, card reader or keypad, providing extra flexibility. In addition, the product enables users access to the system administration program via any Web browser.

Extensive Market Opportunities

The company has installed prototypes of AccuFACE in various test sites. These installation sites include different industries such as defense and homeland security, real estate and property management, finance institutions, and education and research institutions. According to the company, initial evaluations from these tests have generated positive feedback, enabling the company to make various improvements and enhancements to AccuFACE in order to better meet customer expectations.

In response to growing demand from different industries, PSP Security aims to broaden the market reach of its products through different distribution channels. The company sees OEM/ODM customers, value-added resellers and system integrators as the targets for AccuFACE and the AccuFACE module. It will also market AccuFACE directly to end-users through consultants and agents.

What Is E-Commerce?
Simply put, e-commerce is the online transaction of business, featuring linked computer systems of the vendor, host, and buyer. Electronic transactions involve the transfer of ownership or rights to use a good or service. Most people are familiar with business-to-consumer electronic business (B2C). Common illustrations include Amazon.com, llbean.com, CompUSA.com, travelocity.com, and hotels.com.
E-commerce can be divided into:
E-tailing or "virtual storefronts" on Web sites with online catalogs, sometimes gathered into a "virtual mall"
The gathering and use of demographic data through Web contacts
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the business-to-business exchange of data e-mail and fax and their use as media for reaching prospects and established customers (for example, with newsletters)
Business-to-business buying and selling (B2B)
Are You E-Commerce Ready?
Companies that have decided on how to portray their business online must assess whether they have the most efficient information technology (IT) solutions to execute their online exporting programs. IT embodies a range of computer systems and software applications for managing a firm's web site, as well as personnel records, back end databases, etc. With more and more cyber attacks on government and corporate sites, companies should invest in security technologies to protect themselves and their customers from identify theft and denial of service.
An IT assessment should answer the following questions:
What is the firm’s current IT usage? Is it at capacity? What are the plans for additional ITinvestment to upgrade existing systems?
What business applications are best suited to move on line for B2B or B2C electronic?
What does the cost/benefit analysis of all possible projects involving IT show?
What are possible current and future security issues and what is the action plan for correcting problems?
There are, of course, many other factors to consider in doing international e-commerce, such as executing orders and payment issues that have a special e-commerce perspective, which are addressed in other parts of this site.
The internet is driven by computers accessing bandwidth, with servers that contain websites. Websites come in all sizes, information, and pictures, entree-net and of course ecommerce. Most ecommerce accures with the use of shopping cart software or
storefront builder. Shopping cart software has improved over the years, the latest setup from AmeriCommerce, their version 5 shopping cart software has everyone requested features like custom fields, map pricing, XML base web services API designed around to build, customize your shopping cart software with a management console. AmeriCommerce’s console gives access to analyze several of you online stores at one time.

Computer RADIASI..

Be Aware of these: COMPUTER RADIATION!!
Computer games
#Computer and video games are popular pastimes for many children, but very little research has been done on how these games affect children’s health. Researchers believe that electronic games are associated with an increased risk of childhood obesity and can cause overuse injuries of the hand. The sedentary nature of playing electronic games could also increase the risk of developing muscle and joint problems such as back and neck pain and headaches.
#Health risks
Overuse injuries of the hand
Obesity
Muscle and joint problems
Eyestrain
Photosensitive epileptic seizures (rarely).
Overuse injuries

The type of injury depends on the kind of button-play performed; for example, a game that requires the player to press a button with their thumb risks injury to the thumb’s extensor tendon. Suggestions to reduce the risk of overuse injuries:
Set sensible time limits on game playing.
If available, choose the child-sized version of game controls.
Using unnecessary force increases the risk of overuse, so remind your child to push the buttons and other controls as gently as they can.
Remind them to take frequent breaks to shake, flex and relax their hands.
Different games often require different controls (for example keyboard, mouse, joystick, steering wheel), so encourage your child to mix up their game play.
Obesity
The more hours spent in front of the television, the greater the risk of obesity. Since electronic game playing is sedentary too, researchers believe that the health effects are similar. Suggestions to reduce the risk of obesity include:
Set sensible time limits on game playing.
Offer healthy snacks and drinks while your child is playing.
Encourage your child to pursue other hobbies and interests, particularly sports and other physical activities.
Incorporate physical activities into family outings.
Be a good role model by participating in regular exercise and limiting your own electronic game playing.
Muscle and joint problemsResearch shows that adults who work at computers for long periods of time are prone to a range of muscle and joint problems that can cause back pain, neck pain and headache. Few studies have been done on the muscle and joint problems children may experience from game playing, but researchers believe that the impact on a child’s posture and spine may be similar. You can help to reduce the risk if you:
Set sensible time limits on game playing.
Encourage you child to take regular breaks during the game, to walk around and stretch.
Rearrange the furniture to suit your child’s height: for example, adjust the chair so that their feet rest flat on the floor.
Provide an ergonomic chair if possible, to encourage correct posture.
Ensure your child has enough time each day for physical activities.
EyestrainEyes that are focused at the same distance point for lengthy periods of time become fatigued. Symptoms include blurry vision and headache. To reduce the risk of eyestrain:
Make sure the screen is adjusted properly for contrast and brightness.
Rearrange the furniture if possible so that any light source, such as a window, does not shine into face or onto the monitor.
take frequent ‘gaze’ breaks, such as looking at distant objects to change the focal point.
Consult with an optometrist if your child complains of blurred vision and headache, because they might have an underlying eye problem.
Photosensitive epileptic seizuresphotosensitive epilepsy is a relatively rare condition characterized by seizures in response to flickering light. A very small percentage of electronic game players may be sensitive to some games that feature rapidly flashing graphics. While the risk is extremely small, you can reduce the potential risk if you:
Make sure sits at least one metre back from the screen. Two metres away is even better.
Have a high resolution screen if possible as they are less likely to induce seizures in sensitive individuals than low resolution screens.
Things to remember
Set sensible time limits on computer and video game playing.
Your child should take regular breaks during the game.
Ensure your child has enough time each day for physical activities.
